Dynamic Bandwidth Assignment Multiple Access for Efficient ATM-based Service Integration over LEO Satellite Systems

چکیده
This paper proposes a novel dynamic bandwidth assignment multiple access (DBAMA) protocol employing a dynamic packet reservation technique for direct user terminal access to a ATM-based low earth orbit (LEO) satellite communications system. Performance analyses by simulations are presented. Methods to efficiently integrate ATM-based BISDN traffic are considered.

Multiple Access for ATM-Based Multiservice Satellite Networks
In this paper we present and evaluate a hybrid-modular multiple access protocol for ATM transmission in a multiservice satellite system. Given appropriate synchronization and Doppler (shift) compensation, the protocol components can cope with the dynamics of the satellite constellation and are suitable to both mobile and fixed user environments. The general protocol framework is first given wit...
متن کاملEfficient integration of isochronous and data bursty traffics in low earth orbit-mobile satellite systems
This paper focuses on the radio resource management in low earth orbit-mobile satellite systems (LEOMSSs) based on a time division multiple access (TDMA) air interface. A novel demand–assignment medium access control (MAC) protocol, named DRAMAþ (dynamic resource assignment multiple access}enhanced version), is proposed, where voice and Web traffic sources obtain transmission slots through requ...
متن کاملMultimedia Satellite Networks and TCP/IP Traffic Transport
To meet an increasing demand for multimedia services and electronic connectivity across the world, satellite networks will play an indispensable role in the deployment of global networks. A number of satellite communication systems have been proposed using geosynchronous (GEO) satellites, medium earth orbit (MEO) and low earth orbit (LEO) constellations operating in the Ka-band and above. At th...
متن کاملQuality of Service for Broadband Satellite Internet - Atm and Ip Services
The current Internet infrastructure must be architected to handle future media-rich, and content rich applications. The success of applications such as video-on-demand, multicast and content distribution depends on Quality of Service and bandwidth guarantees. Over the years, the Internet has encompassed many changes in traffic profiles and applications, in bandwidths and utilization, but the fu...
متن کاملDynamic reservation TDMA protocol for wireless ATM networks
A dynamic reservation time division multiple access (DR-TDMA) control protocol that extends the capabilities of asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) networks over the wireless channel is proposed in this paper. DR-TDMA combines the advantages of distributed access and centralized control for transporting constant bit rate (CBR), variable bit rate (VBR), and available bit rate (ABR) traffic efficien...
